Some of the best moments happen when you trust a feeling and pull over on the side of the road.

Julianne had one vision for her engagement session: lupines. And if you’ve ever driven through Northern Ontario in early summer, you know exactly what she was after. For a few short weeks each year, wild lupines take over the roadsides in the most breathtaking way – tall, vivid spires of purple and pink that seem almost too beautiful to be growing wild along the highways. They don’t last long, and that fleeting quality is part of what makes them so special. You have to catch them at just the right moment.

When you know what you want, you make it happen – even if that means spotting a perfect patch off the highway and jumping out on the spot. That spontaneous decision set the tone for an entire evening that felt as bright and alive as the landscape around us.

The day was pure summer – blue skies, warm golden light, and fields bursting with colour. Julianne and Will brought the rest. From the very first frame, it was clear these two just work together. Easy laughter, quiet tender moments, and a comfort with each other that made every photo feel effortless to capture. Both had admitted to feeling a little nervous going in, but you would never know it from the images – or from the way the evening unfolded.

We moved through the wildflowers as the light shifted and softened, stealing moments in the greenery, lying in the grass, and finding the kind of in-between moments that end up being your favourites. The result is a gallery that feels romantic and genuine in equal measure – because that’s exactly who Julianne and Will are.

These two are getting married this fall, and I genuinely cannot wait. If their engagement session is any indication, it’s going to be the most beautiful day.
